Restoring our Indigenous Lineage and Standing.
  • Why do records show between 1670 and 1720, more Indigenous slaves were exported out of the US than African slaves imported in?" That's because there was a massive Indigenous Slave Trade in progress during that period of time.
  • Before the transatlantic trade became the primary source of labor, Europeans enslaved hundreds of thousands of Indigenous Americans. These "copper-colored" people were either sold into slavery in the Caribbean or kept on local plantations. Prior to 1870 the census classified our ancestors as "Indian." They were later reclassified to "Free Person of Color" or "Mulattto." Over generations, this caused many Indigenous lineages to be legally "erased" and folded into the "Black" or "African American" category on paper. This process is called Paper Genocide.
