I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Gopi Rangan for an episode of The Sure Shot Entrepreneur podcast. Gopi and I talked about my journey as a founder, an early-stage investor, and returning to start HiHello as a new software platform for digital business cards.
During the interview, I shared the story behind HiHello's creation, which stemmed from my long-standing "love/hate relationship with business cards." I explained, "We come to smartphones, and still we are still handing out little pieces of paper. Little dead trees is how we give people, 'this is who I am, and this is how you contact me.'" This frustration led me to create HiHello, a brand and identity platform that offers digital business cards, email signatures, virtual backgrounds, and contact management.
We also discussed my dual role as both an investor and entrepreneur. As I noted, "It's been a lot of fun for me to be on both sides of the table and be an investor and also be a founder and CEO at the same time because I get to learn on both sides, and with the learning I get on each side, I'm able to apply to the other side as well." This unique perspective has been invaluable in shaping HiHello's growth strategy and also led to renewed empathy for and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the startups I invest in through K9 Ventures
I invite you to listen to the full podcast episode to gain deeper insights into the world of entrepreneurship, the evolution of digital business cards, and the exciting future we're building at HiHello. You'll hear more about our journey from a simple idea to a comprehensive SaaS platform serving both individuals and large companies. As I mentioned in the interview, "I'm convinced that there is a massive, massive opportunity here to build a big business in the digital brand and identity space."
